Each month we spotlight a different CFA athlete who stands out and shows just how awesome they are. What is it that makes up an Athlete of the Month? It may not be the person that finishes the fastest, Rx’s every WOD, or gets a PR every time they walk in the gym. Although we love and celebrate when those things happen, the Athlete of the Month is made up of much more than physical ability. This person shows up, gives their best every time, and then gives a little more. They are hungry to learn and always ready to do the work. They support their fellow classmates and encourage them to reach their goals. This athlete embodies what we believe the CrossFit Austin Community should be about.
Our February Athlete of the Month is Dariana Lua! Dariana joined the CFA family a little over a year ago and has grown so much since she started! From day 1, she has been focused on her form and improving technique and it shows! This girl can move!! Dariana has been such an incredible addition to our CFA family and it’s been a joy to watch her growth in his time here. Dariana, we are honored to have you as our February Athlete of the Month and as an awesome part of this team. Thanks for your all your hard work and we look forward to seeing all you accomplish in the years to come! Congratulations!

What is your fitness background?
I used to try Gym Training without results for the goals I had in mind but 15 months ago i decided to join Austin Cross-fit and was one of the best decisions i ever made
How long have you been CrossFitting?
A little over a year
Take us back to your first day of CrossFit… How did you feel? How do you compare it to workouts today? The first day of CrossFit… i was kinda nervous and it was pretty hard at first but once i got the hang of it, i loved it! i love the feeling of being able to meeting my goals
What’s your favorite part of CrossFit Austin?
I would have to say my favorite part of CFA would be the community and the motivation
Current Training Goals/PRs?
A new goal i am working on is getting a handstand push-up and also working on squat snatch but taking it day by day, slowly but surely:)
What is your cheat meal go-to?
One of my go to cheat meals would have to be pasta it’s my favorite lol !!!
Tell us about a moment you felt most proud of yourself during a workout.
A moment i felt the proudest at myself was when i PR squat clean @115 i was so hyped and happy, that day was a good day
What keeps you going on the days you don’t feel like it?
Something that’s keeps me going when i don’t feel like it would be… i think about where i was when i started, to how i am now and motivates me to keep wanting to get better and better
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?
Something i like to do outside of CF would be go on hikes or enjoying nature.
