State your Name and/or Nickname please:
Sarah.  That’s it.  I always wanted a nickname but I don’t think Sarah lends itself to that.  If you can think one up for me that’s generally badass I would be appreciative.  (BTW Adrienne, Pooh Bear does not fall into the badass category.)

Words to live by?
Make a daily practice of gratitude.  Pay attention to what’s going right in your life.  Even if you have a pile of things going wrong, give your attention to the good stuff and you will start to see more of it.

What is your fitness background?
Haha, I taught aerobics in the ‘90s (and I had a really hot perm).  I was a runner in the 2000s, then I ceased all physical activity around 2009 when I started working on my Ph.D.  I was in bad shape when I arrived at CFA; these coaches had their work cut out for them!

How long have you been CrossFitting?
Since December 2012.

What’s your favorite part of CrossFit Austin?
The culture, hands down.  I absolutely love being a part of such a supportive community.  The staff sets the tone for being encouraging, knowing everyone’s name, starting and ending classes on time, and paying attention to what’s happening with members.  These details make a huge difference.  As a result, fantastic people are drawn to CFA and that makes it great!

What are your training goals?
I will get double unders and kipping pull-ups.  Fo sho.

Favorite sport or activity?
You mean besides CrossFit?  I love being outdoors, having impromptu late-night dance parties, cooking, riding my bike, and anything that involves the beach.

Recent adventure you’re planning?
I’m going on a cycling trip in Southern California in a couple of weeks.  In the summers I host an annual women’s retreat in Tulum, Mexico so I’ll be there for a month in June.

Tell us something we don’t know about you…
If past lives exist I’m pretty sure I was Mexican in mine.  I am totally enamored of all things Mexico, including speaking Spanish, buying food from street vendors, and using “la chancla” as a discipline method.

Longhorns or Aggies?
Could you seriously imagine me as an Aggie?  I bleed burnt orange.

Leave the fine folks of CrossFit Austin with some parting words…
You guys (both coaches and athletes) have changed my life, and every day I’m grateful to be a part of this community!  Thank you for showing up, for encouraging and challenging me, and for making it fun in the process.  XOXO
