June Athlete of the Month || Chris Ferone!!
Each month we spotlight a different CFA athlete who stands out and shows just how awesome they are. What is it that makes up an Athlete of the Month? It may not be the person that finishes the fastest, Rx’s every WOD, or gets a PR every time they walk in the gym. Although we love and celebrate when those things happen, the Athlete of the Month is made up of much more than physical ability. This person shows up, gives their best every time, and then gives a little more. They are hungry to learn and always ready to do the work. They support their fellow classmates and encourage them to reach their goals. This athlete embodies what we believe the CrossFit Austin Community should be about.
Our June Athlete of the Month is Chris Ferone! Chris joined the CFA Family in December of 2020, but came in with some years in the CF world. Chris is part of the chicken o’clock crew, coming in and getting it done before the sun comes up! Not only is Chris a pleasure to have in class, he’s also generally one of the first to volunteer to help us out when we need it during an event or otherwise! He has such a genuine heart and has really added to this community in so many ways. While we are going to miss him when he moves to Dallas, we’ve loved being part of the journey with him and celebrating the wins along the way! Chris, we are honored to have you as our June Athlete of the Month and as an awesome part of this team. Thanks for your all your hard work and we look forward to seeing all you accomplish in the years to come! Congratulations!
Chris Ferone. Friends mostly just call me Ferone
10+ years
I actually was meeting with a personal trainer that introduced me to crossfit. It was helpful because I met with him for 6 months or more and we would watch the crossfitters come in the gym and he would point out what NOT to do as far as movements, etc. I appreciated his feedback and now love crossfit because of the movements!
The community and pushing myself to be better
I still need to learn to rope climb and do consistent double unders!
Be patient and don’t try to lift heavy and be a hero.
Training for me is like a drug- so when I get busy I still have to fit it in or I suffer in my personal life.
In N Out burger and ice cream
Hiking and road biking consistently. I also occasionally go running.
Learning how to listen to my body and say no to a workout at times. I typically want to push through and still go workout even if I am not feeling well.
Finally stringing together kipping pullups!
FeroneRX. ha ha
I know that I will feel SO much better if I move my body. It sets the tone for my day.
Church community, concerts, biking, hiking, traveling, latin dancing, and eating good food!
I am relocating to Dallas in the coming months 🙁
Take advantage of today and the day you have been given. You never know when its your last.
